The WC Football Prize-giving will be held at the Brierley Theatre on Thursday 27 September 2018 at 6:00pm. Prize-giving is for all Football Club members and parents. The evening will close at 7:30pm.

REMINDER.  The Board of Trustees Student Representative election will take place on Monday 24th September in tutor rooms.  This week all students will be emailed the Candidates' statements.  Voting forms will be provided to all students through their tutor folders on Monday 24th September and voting will close at Noon on Monday.  If you have any questions, please contact Susan Poole, Returning Officer and PA to the Principal.

Scholarship Geography: Tutorial today 7.30am - 8.25am in 303.


Create1world competition: This competition run by Massey University is back for 2018. It is a competition that challenges entrants to use creatitvity to help us better understand and tackle problems faced by humanity in the 21st Century. We have had several students do well in this competition in the past and there are cash prizes up for grabs.

Categories sections are: short film (media studies/social studies), devise a drama (drama), poetry or short story (creative writing), compose a song (music). Competition deadline is 15th October. For more details see website or Ms Howes in Arts Office.


Impromptu Speech Competition: WC's impromptu Speaking Cup is up for grabs - will you win it? To be held week 10, Thursday 27th September, Lunchtime in the Library. Speeches are 3 mins max and you get the speaker before you as prep time.

Silent Study in the Library

Starting Monday 10th September, through to the end of the seniors' practise exams, the whole Library will operate under silent study conditions to give senior students optimum study opportunities. In practise, this means: 

  • No gaming, including cards/chess
  • Minimal talking
  • Maximum four students to a table

Junior students - you are still welcome to use the Library, but you must also adhere to the silent study conditions.

Thank you for your cooperation and good luck for your exams!


Maths Club: is suspended during exam week. It will resume week 10.


Commerce USA trip movie fundraiser - Johnny English Strikes Again, this Friday the 21st at 6pm at the Penthouse Cinema in Brooklyn. Tickets are $20 and come with a lolly bag and a drink. If interested please email Harry at


Year 9 Open Day Guides - Year 9 students who helped out at Open Day are allowed to have periods 4 and 5 off this coming Friday afternoon (21 September). Your parents have been emailed. You must sign out at the front office before leaving on Friday. If your parents did not receive the email please see the studnet reception staff.

Students interested in playing ice hockey should see Mr Roth (LBR) in S1 at interval or lunch for information. All ages and beginners welcome.

Pasifika Performance Group: Meeting in M3 on Monday 24th September at INTERVAL. 


 Futsal:  A meeting will be held for all pupils wishing to play futsal in term four at 12:30pm on Thursday, 27 September 2018 in the sports centre.  This will be the last opportunity to register for futsal, so please attend if you are interested in playing. 

Year 10 Maori, Matua Bell's class, go to the Library Period 4 Today. Meet upstairs. Be on time.

Schol Chem and other schol subjects: Vic Uni are holding scholarship tutorials in the October holidays focussed on giving you the best chance of passing the scholarship exams. Register online here. These sessions are extremely helpful, if you are serious about your attempt to pass the scholarship exams, make this a priority.


French club at lunchtime in LC2. Your choice of magazines, books, games, videos, music clips today.   Come and share what you know and like as well as find out about new ones. 

All boys playing in the Senior Boys and Senior Mixed Ki-o-Rahi teams - there is a meeting at interval in the Whare to finalise details for Tuesday. Please let Matua Jono or Whaea Carter know if you cannot make it.
Can all boys from the U15A NZSS Rugby squad bring your beautifully washed (by you, not your parents) tracksuits to the Whare at interval on Monday. Thanks gents.

Golf - Year 9 and 10

The CSW Junior Golf Championships are scheduled for Wednesday 14 November at Trentham Golf Club. If you are interested in playing in this event or want more information about it, see Mr Frew in G4 (office  in Sports Centre). As long as you have access to a set of clubs for the day, you can play. You do not need an official handicap.


10AJC: You have the honour and the privilege of being the duty tutor group for Weeks 9 and 10 of Term 3.  Report for duty in the corridor outside Mr Ashby's office at 12.55pm every lunchtime.  A roll will be taken and your attendance is expected.  Do not be late.  He hoonore, he painga hoki ki te aawhinatia te Kaareti Tametaane o te Whanganui-aa-Tara.


Massey University Course Planning for 2019 is on Monday 24th September at 12.30pm in SR1. Anyone considering enrolling at Massey next year should come along. 


Global Volunteering Adventures are still available for 2-10 weeks starting at the end of the year and longer term options for those looking for a Gap Year experience. Scholarships are on offer check out 


Applications are now open for 2020 Gap Year programmes! Information evening at Queen Margaret College for all students and parents Tuesday the 25th of September.
